China Media Research Call

4/16/2020

CMR Call for a Special Section on "Communication, Competence and Creativity in a Changing World"

Extended Abstract due May 8, 2020
Complete manuscript due August 8, 2020

Call for Submissions

This special section of China Media Research invites scholars from different disciplines to submit manuscripts on the theme of “Communication, Competence and Creativity in a Changing World.” The increasing globalization links the conception of intercultural communication to a clear direction of research: How to extend more communication fields in terms of the digital world? How to improve competence for adequate expression? How to evoke more creativity for effectively communicating and understanding? The special section aims to explore communication scholarship that contributes to our understanding of psychological, socio-cultural, organizational, occupational, technological, or generational factors that impede or enhance our competence and creativity for better communications. Following these considerations, scholars are invited to submit their original manuscripts that address the following topics, among others, from the perspective of communication, competence, and creativity:

·       Communication Competence
·       Communication in a Changing World
·       Creativity in Communication
·       Global Emergency Communication
·       Occupational Communication
·       Intergroup or Intercultural Conflict Communication
·       Culture and Communication Styles
·       Socialization and Organizational Culture
·       Online and Offline Communication
·       Intergenerational Gap and Communication
·       Marginalized Communities

Submissions must not have been previously published nor be under consideration by another publication. An extended abstract (up to 1,000 words) or a complete paper at the first stage of the reviewing process will be accepted. All the submissions must be received by May 8, 2020. If the extended abstract is accepted, the complete manuscript must be received by August 8, 2020. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the APA publication manual (6th edition) and should not exceed 8,000 words including tables and references. All manuscripts will be peer reviewed, and the authors will be notified of the final acceptance/rejection decision. The quarterly journal of China Media Research publishes both print and online versions.

Please direct questions and submissions to the CMR special section guest editor Dr. Mona Sun at yanshu999@hotmail.com.
